Meaning “Truth alone triumphs” is the national motto of our country. And if I being one common man try to relate the motto to any of the leaders in the country, I will be barely be left with few among thousands. As a kid when we were asked in our classes about our “Aim in life”, we answered heavy weight words like doctor, engineer, scientist, architect not knowing what it takes to become one. And among them I still remember few hands coming up saying that they wanted to become politicians again without knowing what it takes to become one. But they must be having some idea while saying a politician and not a doctor or an engineer. That immature idea is exactly what every human on this planet should have while dreaming of or before turning into a politician.

The idea that the child has is exactly every Indian want a politician to be like, unlike today. The fresh mingling ideas in their brain after watching news on TV or rally on roads through the school bus window without knowing the truth about the black money or scandals they involve in. And when they slowly grow up, they see a totally different picture from what the definition said “A politician is a selfless worker who seeks to run the affairs of the state and devotes his time and energy out of patriotic zeal for the welfare of his countrymen.”  Soon after not only the dream of becoming a politician purges out but they google for the best universities abroad. Why so? Is it because our country has not got one or are we not allowing them to become one of the best.

When the Director of Swiss Bank states that US $ 1.5 Trillion of Indian money is deposited in their banks which can be used for tax-less budget in the country for the next 30 years, what impression it creates on our mind? At least the first thought that came to my mind was that do we really need to seek help from United States or any other developed country to run ours? We have the best resources available in the world, best minds born on earth, such a huge population of fresh talented youth, than why are we lagging behind in the race? All questions comes to a halt when the answer to all this is corruption. Why halt? Because you cannot touch people who are corrupt, they are powerful enough to sue you or bail themselves out of the trouble. A country where politicians not only lie to the public but also steal away wealth, how can one say to the world that our country’s motto is “Truth alone triumphs”.

An American writer, author, journalist P.J. O’Rourke has well said “God has no role to play in politics except to make sure politicians go where they belong.  To hell.”

Nowadays most politicians of the country follow politics as a career, regardless of principle. By and large, the people think that our national politics has gone into the hands of wrong people who have made it nasty, corrupt and murderous in order to fulfil their selfish interest at the cost of the common men. Thus one thing that is most disquieting to me is the so-called politics of our country as it is self-centered, terror-oriented and suicidal. Politics has been driven to the opening up of many tempting avenues to get involved in corruption throwing at a discount the motto of public welfare.

Sometimes I give thoughts to take initiative to bring about a change in this deplorable state of our country. For this purpose I need to be a politician. Of course, I would be a different person with a lot of commitments to the people of the country. In fact, if I were involved in politics, I would try to become a genuine lover of the people rather than a political deceiver.

Now the above statement must be a thought for many patriots like me who wants to bring about a change in the country at higher level. It can only be done at lower levels where you can withstand the rebound.  But if we thought of become one we will soon see that our dream of becoming a genuine lover of the people will soon purge and we all will be a part of the same ship that sails on the ocean of corruption.

(No offences to the feelings of people who belong to a politician background or are dreaming of becoming one, it is just another thought that comes to my mind when I hear captains of the ship being a part of the voyage too.)
