‎"THE BRIGHTEST PEARL" | English Poem

In the happy purposeless childhood,

Under the care of a Divine motherhood,

Various tiny tots are brought up high.

Some with innocent eyes and some too shy.

There was born one such pearl in the city,

Bright, studious, sincere and witty.

He saw a beautiful childhood, lived it full.

Teachers awarded him for being the best among the pool.

He was the brightest pearl of his class,

After Class 3, the Report said, “First Rank Pass”.

He grew up a bit and reached class Sixth.

The Star among the friends was still not affixed.

Full on masti with rocking heights,

A sky with no limits inspired his nights.

But came then a night, which became his last.

He saw the next Sun, but could not the Midnight Star.

He got up ready in the dusk,

Waved a cherishing ‘good-bye’ to his Mom.

After half an hour, the doorbell rang.

The policeman said, “Sorry Mam, your child has gone.”

He didn’t stop at the Red light.

Henceforth, passed away a star so bright.

He might be now watching the other pearls as a star,

After all, he turned from the brightest pearl,

to the brightest Star.
